October Newsletter

Welcome to the October newsletter.

May you find it useful in navigating October’s night sky in the Southern Hemisphere. Observing a planet of choice or all the planetary wandering stars. Mercury and Venus will be in conjunction for beautiful viewing on the 7th, the Moon and Saturn on the 24th.

May the star myths given and the Twelve Moods and the Virtues along with the Calendar of the Soul verses enrich your contemplations and poetic imaginations of the October celestial movements. In an attempt, as a picture of wisdom not as a verdict, an abstract or fatalism, but as living star wisdom. Viewing the planetary spheres and zodiac as living spiritual expressions rather than mechanical objects,

and how will one speak to the Stars? In attempting to understand their greater rhythms?

Rudolf Steiner says in his lecture Rhythms in the Being of Man (Berlin, January 12, 1909), the human etheric and astral bodies function under cosmic regularity, human conscious life has "fallen out of this rhythm." Not knowing how to "take guidance from the great script of the stars," leading to disorder in our thinking and social life. And in the 1922 lecture cycle, Man and the World of Stars, he says as we breathe physical air on Earth, our spiritual being "breathes" the thoughts of the cosmos in a rhythm determined entirely by the world of the stars. Modern materialism isolates us, and we must learn to tune our living organism back into these celestial movements. Understanding the gestures and mathematics of planetary rhythms, humanity can bridge the gap between physical science and spiritual freedom.

Follow the rhythm of the Moon through the whole of the zodiac, moving 13 degrees a day, across the sky, the Moon rising about 50 minutes later each consecutive night.

The month starts with the Moon in Taurus on the 1st, back to Taurus and onto Gemini by the 31st.

How does it feel when its new, to when its full?

In this month’s celestial rhythms the Sun moves along the ecliptic through

Virgo – representative of the Divine Feminine, the colour Indigo “I find divine being in Indigo” and on into the stars of balance Libra on 18th Oct, Robert Powell says “the glyph reflective of above and below, the risen part of the glyph, representing the etheric stream that flows through these fixed stars forms the shape of two balanced pans, connected either side to a central fulcrum, mirroring through the hips of the human body, held in balance by the upright spinal column”. The colour of Libra Violet - “The immeasurable realm of eternity shines”. (Robert Powell)

The astronomical night sky:

Low down on the horizon Aldebaran in Taurus, and Pleiades are beginning to rise in the eastern sky, marking the coming summer. Also in the east Orion is becoming visible.
